Boom It Up – Gamevil

Boom It Up is the latest iPhone release from Gamevil, which has earned a great reputation and fanbase thanks to titles like Zenonia and Hybrid. Zenonia is considered by many to still be the best RPG on the app store, and Hybrid, which is a fast paced action title with RPG elements, was also very well recieved. Boom It Up is a completely different title, but certainly maintains Gamevils solid reputation among iPhone gamers.
Boom It Up is one of those games that is easy to pick up and play, but extremely difficult to master. The premise in the game is simple. You start out by blasting a cannonball up into a crazy obstacle course of sorts containing mini flying cannons, trampolines, giant pinball springs and levers, and more. Using the course, which is randomized each playthrough, your goal is to “boom” your cannon ball as high as possible. The course starts out nice and easy, but in just a few short minutes you find the course moving faster requiring increasingly sharp reflexes.
Early on there were some complaints over the framerate, however with a recent update I can happily report that that stability is greatly improved and is no longer a noticable issue. The Gamevil Live online leaderboards are a very nice touch, and adds plenty of replayability.

The developer that brought us Moonlights, has just released Blockoban for the iPhone, a new iPhone puzzler. Blockoban was released as a “try & buy” title, a format that has slowly gained popularity around the app store since it was made available to developers a few months back. Blockoban comes with 100 levels free, with a Full Version available to purchase for $1.99 as an in-app purchase. The Full Version includes an additional 820 levels.
Both free and full versions of the game are Plus+ enabled for online leaderboards and community features.

For those not familiar, VernX is a true hidden gem, a physics game that has you guiding 50 particles through 65 clever and challenging levels in 3 modes using the accelerometer. The frame-rate in VernX is incredibly smooth, and the integration of the physics engine with the accelerometer controls is extremely well done.
The visuals in VernX are simple but effective, but this is really a game you have to see in motion to appreciate. Check out the video below to get a better feel for the gameplay. The new X Levels are made strictly for the hardcore gamer, and are incredibly challenging.

Super Juicy is a very charming physics based match 3 game that has you popping colorful bubbles as they bounce onto the screen. The physics in Super Juicy are really well done. Simply rotate your iPhone to the left or to the right, and the bubbles inside react accordingly, as if they are affected by gravity.
It is also worth mentioning that there is something especially satisfying about bursting bubbles, and that bit of fun is certainly not lost on the game. The sounds in Super Juicy are also very well done.
At just $0.99 Super Juicy is an great value, and is easy to recommend.
